Rental Period is from 08.00 – 08.00. All van hires are to be returned by 8am the following day regardless of collection time. Early returns are not refundable.
Rental period is 24 hours from time booked. Car hire is calculated in periods and multiple periods of 24 hours. Early returns will not be refunded.
We only have a finite number of vehicles and are often fully booked. It is important that vehicle returns are prompt so that vehicles can be prepared for the next customer. We may not have a vehicle available for you if you have not extended the hire by prior agreement. Should you wish to keep the vehicle for a period longer than originally set out in the rental agreement, you must first contact us by phone. We will of course try our utmost to accommodate your requirements, however this may not be possible. Communication with our office is of utmost importance. It is essential that you contact us in good time if you think you may require an extension of your hire. Failure to do so may mean that you are not only liable for the cost of the vehicle that is in your hire at the full day rate, but also any costs that may be incurred to facilitate any hirer in wait that may have had their hire cancelled, withdrawn, postponed or modified. A 45 minute grace period is applied at the end of the rental period before you are liable for the cost of another day or 24 hours.
MAKING A BOOKING
We only accept telephone bookings. Only telephone to reserve a vehicle. We do not correspond regarding booking of any vehicle, change of dates, cancellations, alteration of any kind of any hire by email, text or fax
Payment is to be made by Credit or Debit cards only. We do not accept Solo or Electron cards. We do not accept cash or cheques. Rates include VAT and Insurance Cover.
If you cancel less than 24 hours from the start of your hire, you are liable for no less than one day (vans) or 24 hour period (cars) and no more than three days (vans) or 72 hours (cars). All van hires start at 08.00 on day of hire and car hires start at time stated at booking of vehicle. Care hire over bank/public holiday may have different cancellation/deposit policies. Cancellations of car hire over public/bank holidays the card holder at the time of booking is liable for the full cost of stated tariff.
Customer liability is set out in the ‘Short Term Hire Agreement’ at the time of hiring. Excess for all vehicles is £950.00. (Under 25’s an additional £250.00 added to the original excess). Collision Damage Waiver, CDW, is available to reduce excess to either £200.00 or £75.00. Please enquire. CDW does not include; theft, write off, overhead or width restriction damage. Customer is liable for all damage relating to tyres, rims, punctures, mirror units and windscreens throughout the duration of the hire and until checked in by Chiswick Self Drive Ltd. Hirer is liable for full excess in the event of any third party claims or any third party damage.
If any vehicle is written off or stolen whilst in your hire the, hirer is liable for an Excess for theft or write off, of £1950.00.
Additional charges may apply dependent on penalty points or convictions the driver/s may hold. Hirer is liable for the full cost of repair for all damage incurred as a result of damage above windscreen height or due to width restriction, over and above excess.
Hirer is liable for any and all costs relating to tyre / rim damage, punctures, broken mirrors, and damaged windscreens throughout the duration of the hire. No smoking in vehicles. Evidence of smoking or vehicles returned in an unacceptable condition (e.g. spoiled interiors, staining, animal hairs, the hirer will be liable for a valet fee of £30.00. Liquid spill (e.g. milk, petroleum, paint) the hirer will be liable for the loss of excess.
PENALTY/PARKING CHARGE NOTICE
All penalty or parking charge notices received and/or processed through out office, the hirer is liable for a £36.00 administration fee. In some cases (e.g. bus lanes, congestion charges, some private PCN’s) the hirer is also liable for the cost of the PCN over and above the administration fee.
When relating the registration number for Congestion Charge or any other purpose, always refer to the number plate and not the rental agreement
FUEL AND MILEAGE
Vehicles are hired on a level-to-level basis. Please return vehicle with the same fuel type and level.
Hirer will be charged £25.00 per ¼ tank or part thereof for short filled vehicles. Over filled vehicles will not be refunded.
250 miles per day, or 2000 per 28 days. Excess mileage fee for all vehicles, .20 pence per mile. Please enquire with regards for unlimited mile charges.
VEHICLE BREAKDOWN ASSISTANCE
All vehicles are covered by the AA. Every vehicle has an AA breakdown card on the top left hand side of the windscreen. Call the number on the card ‘0800 420 420’ and quote the registration number of your vehicle and / or ‘Chiswick Self Drive Ltd’
TAIL LIFT VEHICLES
Keep engine running when using Tail Lift to avoid a flat battery. Do not overload Tail Lift. Evenly distribute load. Max Load 500kg. Tail lifts that have been overloaded, the hirer will be liable for loss of excess.
OUT OF HOURS RETURNING
Hirer/Driver has the option of returning out of hours. Do no park illegally. Fold in mirrors. Until vehicle has been checked in by Chiswick Self Drive Ltd, the vehicle is still on hire and remains the customer’s liability. Only use the key drop and DO NOT hand the keys to anyone, whatever the circumstances.
